Has Reiss Nelson let his Arsenal career slip?

Reiss Nelson was once the most promising youngster at Arsenal. Before his loan to Hoffeinham at 18, many argued he was decent enough to help the club and needed no loan deal, such was the faith placed in his talent.

Riess Nelson was however sent on loan to TSG Hoffeinham, where he made a very explosive start, scoring six(6) goals in as many games, despite only coming on as a substitute in all of those games. His form deteriorated for most of the best part of the season remainder although he would go on to produce a positive end of season.

Coming into the season, Reiss Nelson was the youngster to watch, he had now taken in a full season of senior professional football outside the club and more was expected of him. He was expected to stay well ahead of the other youngsters in the form of Bukayo Saka and new boy, Gabriel Martinelli.

At the start of the season, all three youngsters were given their chances to see who takes his, indeed Reiss Nelson started the season opener against Newcastle. Of the three at the start of the season, Nelson produced the least level of performances, when he was actually expected to be the best of them.

Months down the line and Martinelli and Saka have now cemented their places ahead of Nelson in the perking order. Reiss Nelson was struggling for game time even with Saka currently occupying a Left-Back role, he will only go further down the perking order when Saka comes back for a place in the attack.

Reiss Nelson didn't take his chances when they came, could he has let his Arsenal career slip with his complacent early season start?
