Possible Dayot Upamecano breakthrough for Arsenal

Arsenal have been chasing RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano for quite a couple of years now, but all to no success. Leipzig have demanded fees beyond Arsenal's price range, with a €100m price tag being put on the defenders head last summer.

Dayot Upamecano is now in the final year of his contract and Leipzig will now be forced to sell in the summer for a modest price to avoid losing the player on a free transfer which is a major breakthrough for Arsenal as they'd have an easier deal to negotiate and would be in a strong position in negotiations.

According to 'The Sun', Dayot Upamecano has rejected a contract extension offer from RB Leipzig, with the player keen on leaving, making a potential transfer to Arsenal all the more easier. Arsenal of course still have to be able to convince the player to join, and also fend off interest from other teams.

The improvement he'd bring to the the Arsenal team cannot be overstated, he's young and with plenty of potential to go with his current abilities. A potential long term partnership with fellow young French defender, William Saliba, is one Arsenal must do well to secure.
